after hours and hours and days and weeks of staring at the computer all the time, it's a relief to actually do something with my hands! i actually enjoy doing mock ups. it's hard, but fun :D
we had design labels for wine bottles. i'm doing rosemount.
those are mine over there!! can you seeeee? i'm pretty satisfied with them :D unlike the previous packaging project which turned out like shit. i was jumping up and down with glee for this one! but my lecturer only commented that they were "interesting". cih.
lia's works are always so complex to do. this time, she decided to avoid her usual vintage style (which was what i chose for this one) and went for something modern. her mock ups involved a lot of masking tape, stickers and some spray painting too.
in the end irene and i decided to spray paint our bottles black. looked more expensive!

we also had to record a radio commercial for another one of our projects. and that was when i discovered the beauty of garage band. we played around with the different effects. apparently if i used the "female to male" effect on my voice, i'd sound like an american dad. but when we used it on lia's, she sounded like a tranny.
don't they look like radio presenters? abang brought a mic from guitar hero lol
and i had lia run around the room for 3 laps so she'd get the energy for the recording :p
and of course there were those meaningless bits of time when we just fooled around.
hahaha wheelbarrow!
this was an empty classroom with lots of random stuff lying around the place.
next week is the packaging for the wine bottles!

it's past midnight. i have drunk a big glass full of warm tea, with extra sugar, in the hopes that either the caffeine or sugar will kick in so i'll stay awake.
you know what would be nice? to sleep, and dream of wonderful, creative designs of logos and beverage labels and packagings and all the projects you have. so when you wake up, all you need to do is sketch them out and voila. you're done. no need to spend so much time staring at that blank page in your visual diary. or browsing the net and books looking for inspiration. all it takes, is to dream.
it would be like surrealism, where your dreams become inspirations. does it sound stressful to have assignments circling your head even in your sleep? i definitely won't mind if i find a solution for them in dreamland.
so dear dream lord or fairy or the big friendly giant from roald dahl's novel, please let me dream of "go green" logos tonight. something that's never been done before. something that'll grant me a really really good grade. oh yes yes yes, please? pretty please? i said the magic word, so i'm expecting something magical to happen!

here's what it looks like when my days are overwhelmed with project after project after project:
oh holy crap right. so bloody crowded and unorganized!!! wait. unorganized? it's actually very organized. in fact, i can divide it into 5 sections:
1 is for the kleenex wrapping project
2 is the raffles poster
3 is the calpico soda packaging
4 is the "coke side of life" poster ads
and 5 mostly consists of screenshots of my friends' works.
when we're doing our assignments at home, some of us go online and share our progress through screenshots so we can see if we're lagging behind, or the standard of the others' works. something like these:

i must say this past week has been heaven. we still get assignments, but with plenty of time to breathe. plenty of time to do more than just breathe!!! but. oh but. there's always a but with these things. i am afraid my time of pleasure is ending. we are entering the busy stage again. goodbye my 8-10 hours of sleep!!!!
why am i still here anyway??? i have assignments to do!! oh my soft bed, my warm blankets. wrapping it snugly around me, when the room's pretty chilly. and outside the raindrops drizzle on the asphalt roads. sometimes i just wanna sleep forever....

irene's shirt had a b&w globe on it, which kinda resembles a cow
and i tried on this b&w heels (again, cow-like) which looked really good but i didn't buy cuz i don't know what to wear it with but i'll try it on again on friday and then decide. wow long sentence.

a mini space i set up to take photos for my packaging project. just a table lamp and a white towel on a desk. i just grabbed the towel cuz it was the first white thing i saw. and it turned out to be a good choice as i sprayed water on the bottle for a more... fresh effect.
so this is where i work on my assignments now. my little brother's room, only he doesn't really use it since he sleeps with my parents. it's neater than my room, with no distractions.
i like shooting things on a white background, they look so clean.
that was the brief, fun part. now it's back to the computer. i have edited so many pictures of fireflies and rats and hamsters and ducks and swans and dogs and beetles and ladybugs and moths and butterflies and bears and horses i think my head's gonna explode.
