an update in nyc at laaast. and bloody hell i'm not gonna post any pictures. very sorry but i think the amount of pictures in previous entries will compensate for this one. don't know why i just don't have the mood to take out my camera and snap snap snap. although i still bring it around.
i am tiiireeeedd, and recently acquired the new found skill of not sleeping at night and staying awake in the morning. so that means, my flu is cured. yippee yaaaay
before the 6.30 am flight, i stayed up aaall night chatting. then i only had my moments of restless uncomfortable sleep in the flight (a hell of a long one btw, even though we changed planes like 3 times. and in one 9-hour flight the lady beside me kept SLEEPING the whooole 9 hours so i couldn't go to the toilet until the 7th hour when my sister and another lady beside her got up. seriously, if she wasn't sleeping she was eating).
reached ny around 10.30 pm and the stupid taxi driver didn't know the way!!! so we probably payed some extra cash while he tried to find his way here. and he even blamed us!!! for saying we knew how to get here. like dooood you don't expect us to know how to get here from the airport do ya???? we're frikin kids!!! why would we know such looong routes. you're supposed to know! you're a taxi driver for christ's sake. and btw he's a lil bit deaf too.
so we finally asked to be dropped off nearby and then had to draaag all 3 suitcases + 1 big bulky bag full of a blanket squished with a pillow down the street, up a flight of stairs, and dooown into the basement.
yep, i am currently staying in the basement of an "apartment". seriously they call everything apartments here. it's like a tiiiny small minute little house but has few families inside, like a lot of the other buildings around here.
we'll be sharing our tiny house inside a house with another girl, but she hasn't arrived yet. and even with my sister alone the place is already packed!!! everything lying eeeverywheeere. except her bedroom. that is completely bare i tell you. only 1 bed, 1 chair and nothing else. well i dragged a cabinet from the other bedroom for my clothes. don't know if i'm supposed to do that, but that room already has a wardrobe!!! while our 2-people-in-one has none!!!
i don't have a bed just yet. so i'll be sleeping in the other room for the time being. but the beeed. omg the beeed. imagine sleeping on wood/hard tiles. there you go. really, i'm being literal. it's so damn hard i don't get why they call it a bed. my ass hurts just from sitting on it.
and did i mention that the tiny speck of a garden outside the house is made of carpet??! i mean like.... carpet?!?!?!?!?!?!!? green carpet to be exact but still!!! carpet?!?!?!??!?!?!??!!?!!?!? where'd all the grass and flowers go???
first day was spent walking... and walking... and walking... buying me a new sim card (that took a long time. as usual, left sister to do all the talking. i don't get a thing here and i blank out a lot. and bytheway!!! my numbers frikin haard!!!!), pulsa for sis (they call it prepaid or some other weird name), got her schedule + books, had lunch at her favourite xiao long bao place and bought foooood.
i am, by now, sick of the subway. comparing it to singapore's, this one jiggles and jaggles and joggles like a cradle. a cradle gone mad. and i will have a hard time memorising where to stop and transfer and etc etc. can't be bothered about maps, they annoy me =.= (wow 1st and only smiley in the post. that's rare)
