The International Education Experience In Indonesia!
Bina Bangsa School offers Pre-School (TK), Primary (SD), Secondary (SMP) and Junior College (SMA) fully English based education in Jakarta, Bandung and Malang. Mandarin as 2nd Language and Bahasa Indonesia are also taught. BBS is accredited as "National School with International Standard" by Indonesia Minister of Education and Culture (DEPDIKNAS).
that's what it says on the main page of the bbs website. but wait. is it just me or is the "In" supposed to be in the lower case? and why is "second" spelt as "2nd"? some english-based education.
but really, that's not my point. just some things i accidentally picked up on the way. moving on...
Bina Bangsa School is set up to provide an internationally recognized education in Indonesia so that children can benefit from a good education and a loving family environment.
Singapore, being recognized widely as having one of the best education system in the world and having an integrated bilingual curriculum, serves as a good model for our school curriculum. Our lessons are conducted in ENGLISH Language and all students will learn CHINESE Language as Second Language (same standard as Singapore students), Bahasa INDONESIA. Additionally BBS has an integrated music programme whereby students can study 1 musical instrument (Western Classical or Chinese Classical) for the whole stay in Bina Bangsa School.
that, ladies and gentlemen, is the description of our school (the capitalized words are bothering me btw :S).
of course, i understand that in advertisements, you're supposed to be all sweet and sugary and twist some facts to make them... true. but not true. like how an uncontrollable, hyper dog can be described as "full of energy".
or, one can omit some unnecessary facts. for example, how about the unfriendly admin people hired by the school?
ratna and i had to go there today, and we felt soo much less than welcome. the staff hardly looked at us and they were NOT helpful at all. we asked to convert our report card grades to A,B,C,D and they just looked at us blankly. they're positioned there to know somethiiinggg.
they weren't even polite! they snapped, were impatient and unhelpful and couldn't even talk nicely. like, honeys, you're PAID to BE NICE. whatever happened to customer service???
see, i pay you, you serve me, get it? the money you use to buy food comes from my pockets. well, it used to. i entered the school since it first opened. and have faithfully served as a customer until this year, when i decided it was a waste of my time. so i have been feeding you for so long and that's how you treat me?
she even expected me to call her "ms". well why don't you talk to me in a better way before i decide to call you at all.
oh and what about the recent rule about "NO VISITORS ON SCHOOL HOURS". that's something the public should know.
i wanted to demand my sgu trophy from mr zarge, and so attempted to get on the elevator and go upstairs. but oh nooooo, i just had to be SCREAMED at.
my little sweet puppets, there are better ways of conveying what you want. screaming is definitely not one of them.
if the security guard - and those admin people poking their heads out - had politely explained that the rule existed, i would have been gracious enough to let it go without speaking in a very audible voice about how we should burn down the school.
so at last, i resorted to asking the admin to call down mr zarge. but damn he was teaching, so did i want to wait for him for 40 minutes? well, why the hell not?
as if. the school can eat my sgu trophy for all i care.
it does seem like i'm badmouthing bbs? but if you think about it:
- no one will come across this blog
- i belong to no school atm, i cannot be punished
- this is all based on my opinion, which i am free to express
so yeah. and i think a lot of people will agree to burn, bomb, demolish, flood, teleport this fuckin school. raise your hands?
