60 PICTURES AHEAD!!!!!!! *pats myself for the accomplishment*
this weekend's theme: back to nature.
my whole family, together with a bunch of other kids and their parents, took a trip to sukabumi for a 3-night stay. it takes 3-4 hours to get there!!!!!!! crazy.
we own a house plus land there. the plan was to rear fish and sell them, but so far, not much progress.
the house has 2 bathrooms and *counting* 5 bedrooms [i think]. second floor is carpeted with an ugly orange and the walls are painted sloppily with blue, green, pink, oh you name it.
i like the balcony
in front of the house, is the fish pond. the kids like to go there to feed or just look at the fish. fish feed's this powdery thing.
first night and second day, i was extremely bored. nothing to do except read and phone friends. but at least i get to have my own room.
the water here is frickin cold! i washed my hair once and my ears went numb.
third day, i socialised more and even joined the other children when they took a walk to the water spring. they'd sometimes try to catch little fish with aqua cups.
this place has all the water you want! eeeverywhere is water water water plus lots of vegetation. which is why there's some water factories around here. my dad used to have one here but he sold it.
taking a walk here is not easy. sure, the folks living there are probably used to it, but for newcomers...
muddy uneven paths, steep slopes with a few rocks and stones to guide your steps
small endless paths with tall grasses on either side
and the left part of this picture below? the path's hardly as big as your foot. so model-wannabe's, this is the place for you!!! you'll literally be forced to walk in a straight line.
half the time i was afraid of losing my balance and falling into pools. had to keep my eyes on the road at all times. but when i finally did look up, wowwww
there's a swan in this picture!!! anyone see it? i couldn't till i zoomed in.
here's what paddy fields look like after harvest:
little stumps of sticks grouped together
all the kids are so shyyyyy. everyone turned away whenever i tried to take a picture. everyone, that is, except this little guy:
my sister and i call him "dede monyong". 'cuz, well, he likes to do this:
but he's more commonly referred to as "dede". now when i point the camera at him...
android face
"APA KAMU BILANG?!?!?!?"
him and his sister (candid):
did i tell you some of the kids like to invade my room?
his sister has suuuper long eyelashes!!!!! and and and they actually curl upwards naturally!!! i wanted to take a picture of it but she's one of those turn-away-when-the-camera's-on-you type. she's also the reason why i've been waking up at 5 or 6 am there.
back to the walk! we reached this river flowing with clean and clear water and what did the kids do? jump in! reminds me of those homeless people taking a bath in lakes and rivers.
once i took a walk with dede's mum and from a distance, we could see a man taking a bath there. NO PANTS. he stood up, his back facing towards us, and we could see his ass, in a slightly different shade than the rest of his body. we instantly turned back, laughing.
sometimes we'd see local children carrying fishing rods. they like to catch eels.
i walked alone with dede once
and ended up taking pictures of lizards (yes, ratna, there are also lizards here. they're just unavoidable)
can you spot them?
by the last day i'd walked to the water spring so many times i'd practically memorised the way. and improved a lot in terms of climbing up slopes and walking on thin paths. compared to the first time i set sight on this place anyway. my little brother, though, still not so good. and he walked more than me!
but heeey this post isn't done yet (much as i'd like it to be. i'm getting tired with the amount of pictures). we also went to cakuang. that's basically driving up the mountain to this tourist place.
on the way i saw a rainbow for the first time!!! didn't even think about taking a picture.
oooh look at the fog
this place has a lot of caterpillars.
see that white blurred thing in the middle? that's a caterpillar hanging mid-air. why blurred though? 'cuz it was squirming and twisting around so much.
we reached a clearing with quite a few campers. time for picturessss.
group picture with the kids
seems normal? just another picture on a rock? well then lets zoom out.
the rock is friggin high!! they had to be helped up.
process of going down
the second girl from the bottom is taller than me, and younger than me. the world of height is unfair.
one camper's kid kept hanging around us:
and then down we went to look for a place with the best view
on the last day, i already felt like i could actually live there. well, if there's internet.... and friends... and a few malls wouldn't hurt.... oh how 'bout warm water??
