i walked out of my bedroom and boom!!! the monitor's changed!!! hurraaaaaaah. no more looking at a big fat reflective computer screen.
but anyways. this post isn't about that. on the 20th, ratna and i arrived at the mutiara kedoya sports club. "a room with sheets and music", we had been instructed. ratna asked the security guard and he actually knew!
the room we entered had white sheets draped across its walls and ceilings and a big wooden table in the centre. seemed like a transformed meeting room.
they said they'd put everything up the night before but everything fell apart that day so they had to redo it. the sheets keep falling! well i guess the problem is that they're only stuck with tape...

here's what the table finally looked like:
the styrofoam decorations (writings of "Allison") are made by angela's father. wow he's good
okaaaay now to the story of the surprise. a team of four (angela, bella, ratna, philip) dressed up in black shirts, sunglasses, hats and a handkerchief tied around their mouths. their role: kidnappers.
and let's give credit to the cameraman who filmed the event:
i didn't join the kidnapping but we did watch the recording later on. as told by the others, they went to allison's house and knocked hard on her bedroom door. she opened it with an "ooohh myyy goooood!!!!!!!". that's when they closed her mouth and eyes with cloths and brought her to philip's car. she was placed in the baggage compartment!! but the exceptionally kind kidnappers gave her a pillow to make up for the discomfort.
we were told that ratna really got into character. she roleplayed with much enthusiasm, even pretending to call an imaginary "boss" t0 tell him that they'd captured the hostage.
then, they returned to the sports club, sat allison on a chair (the lighter went missing in this part)
and on the count of three.... opened the blindfold just as reyner popped the balloon sitting on her lap.

must say i got pretty pissed off when watching the video. the camera shook like hell =.= and sometimes he only got the top of people's heads. but well i guess it's hard when you have to keep moving around.
time to blow the candles. two cakes babeh!! the candles aren't normal candles. probably a cross between normal candles and firecrackers? they read in allison's calendar that she wanted firecrackers on her birthday cake.

a while later bella picked up the cloth they used to stuff her mouth with - by then smeared by her saliva - and ran around with it, trying to show everybody.
allison tried to grab it but failed. bella managed to reach the spot where the cameras were!!!

aaah wine~ cheerssss. it actually tasted good! i don't normally like wine. this one's sweet. less of the strong wine taste. so i guess it's something wine lovers wouldn't like? =p

ci irene actually warned us that if the sheets were to fall when the candles were still alight, all of us were to blow like crazy!!! but thank god that didn't happen.
of course, it's no party without the song.... booty bounce!!!! you know what i'm just gonna grab the song from ratna's blog so you can hear it while reading our booty bouncing part:
so after the song played, as usual, people started bouncing along, singing along, and going craaazyyy. for example, this is the time when weird poses and pictures started showing up.
"stop playing with the balloons or i'll poke you!!!"
and after everyone ate the cake and got high on chocolate...
hey, why not make the guys booty bounce behind the sheets??
each pair was draaagged into the space (actually our secret compartment for bags) to create a silhouette effect of people booty bouncing!!!! i took several videos and am planning to compile them. maybe i'll post it when it's done. if technology's on my side.
i actually compiled the vids i took when they opened allison's blindfold. buut!! the pictures shook like crazy after rendering so.... we'll postpone that too. maybe.hopefully?

we were on our way to the bathroom. i was walking at the back when suddenly, the whole bunch of girls screamed!!!!! then some started jumping around like crazy, looking down, flailing their arms.
guess what happened?
angela and bella stepped on a lizard (or what indonesians commonly refer to as "cicak"). and stepped as in... not just their foot brushing it, but squish right smack splat on it.

i was just laughing the whole way! was surprised ratna didn't join the screaming. usually she'd scream the loudest when there's a lizard. once, when she was about to enter my house (which has lots of lizards), she told me to keep the front door wide open, keeping her distance from it. then, as if on cue, she screamed and ran inside.

yes, those couples.... every event's a holiday for them. and they made us single desperate women.... *sobs*
that night, i was suddenly pulled out of the room by the "singles" group. turned out they were looking forward to spy guys playing in the basketball court!!!! that was before we found out that the guys... were actually middle-aged men with bloating stomachs.
