belinda's new clothes
Sunday, March 22, 2009 x 3:52 PM
when i was young, i was the type to play with barbies. throughout the years, quite a pile has been collected. and knowing children, most of them, though certainly loved, aren't in very good condition. dirty, tangled up hair, some heads unattached and clothes missing.
after making up my mind to do something productive for the day (instead of sitting in front of the computer or tv all day long), i decided to try and make clothes for one of my kellies. "kelly" is the children version of "barbie", in case you don't know.
so today, me, with my zero knowledge and experience in making any sort of clothing, will attempt to put together something wearable for poor little belinda. i don't even remember what she was wearing when i bought her.
look, she's stark naked! :(
i decided to make a simple dress. my mum has a lot of unused bedsheet samples, given to her when she's deciding which bedsheet to purchase. so i decided to use that (since i don't have anything else other than flannel).
aaand done!

ooooh looking pretty good! now let's put it on

omg!!! so damn hard!!! obviously mattel didn't design kellies to be flexible enough for easy clothing. i had to stretch my little creation until the strings went loose. so i had to restitch some parts (unprofessional sewing).
then....

now it looks like a beggar's clothes (wah my little belinda looks pretty. but her hair's so damn long i'm itching to cut it). strings flying around, and it's a tad too big for her. ok whatever lah i'm tired already. time to cheat. let's give her a scarf.
and aloha~ the new belinda
i guess i should clean up now
